Multiple Allele - Blood types -A number of human traits are the result of more than 2 types of alleles. Such traits are said to have  multiple alleles  for that trait.  - Blood type is an example of a common multiple allele trait. There are 3 different alleles for blood type, (A, B, & O). A is dominant to O. B is also dominant to O. A and B are both codominant. Type O Blood:   Universal Donor as it contains no A or B antigens, so the receivers' blood will not clot when given the O blood. Type AB Blood:   Universal Receiver, as it contains no Anti-A or Anti-B antibodies in its plasma. Mutation: Deletion A mutation is a change in DNA. A deletion mutation is when the DNA molecule doesn’t copy right when DNA replication is occurring and removes a base pairs in a gene.  Example of a Deletion:  ATG-AGT-CGT-ATA-TAA ATG-AGC-GTA-TAT-AA How do we get these mutations?  1.You can just randomly get them 2.Mutagen which is any agent that results in a mutation   3.Radiation: X-rays, Cosmic, Ultraviolet radiation, nuclear radiation   Effects:  Somatic Effects: Cannot pass to your child Genetic Effects: Can pass on genes  Reflection:  The beginning of learning about deletion mutation I didn’t understand it as well as I do now after doing research. Respiration Equation: Glucose + Oxygen + water = carbon dioxide + ATP Ex) Effects: Smoking  Causes: ends up in black and permanently damaged  I already knew all of this from review in class. Nothing surprised me. It was pretty good but fast because I already knew it. We all breath outside of class and plants fo the opposite of respiration. 

Genetics: Recessive Traits

Recessive traits are traits that can be carried without the phenotype being shown. Examples: - Blue eyes are a recessive trait, so if someone carries both the Brown and blue eye traits their eye color will be brown. - If two parents have brown eyes but carry the blue eye trait, they can have a child with blue eyes. However, if both parents have blue eyes their offspring can only have blue eyes. This is because neither parent has the brown eye trait.

DNA Function & Structure

DNA was discovered in the 1950's by James Watson and Francis Crick. The structure is a double helix also known as a twisted ladder because of the way it looks.   Also DNA is genetic material that carries information for making proteins, which is made up of nucleotides. The nitrogenous bases are: - Adenine (A) - Guanine (G) - Thymine (T) - Cytosine (C) A always pairs with T, and G always pairs with C  What I personally learned about the DNA function and shape was that the hydrogen bonds are weak so it can "unzip" and for it to replicate, and thats how we survive. Also when it replicates thats how our hair, nails, and etc. grows. I also learned that the DNA is in the nucleus so that it can change into mRNA which sends messages to the ribosomes because it can't leave the nucleus. I love this topic ...

Homeostasis means having an internal environment that is constant and adapts to environmental changes. I Learned that homeostasis has something to do with your body temperature and how your temperatures falls and rises. This surprised me because I didn't know none of this and I didnt know none of this already at all. I like like this objective because it tells me I can learn more about my body this also can help you outside of biology because when you doing sports or exercises your body temperature an rise or it can go down
