Causes of Mutation- MORGAN
CAUSES OF MUTATIONS !
A mutation is any change in DNA sequence
CAUSES- A mistake in copying DNA, OR, by exposure to certain enviromental factors
3 TYPES OF MUTATIONS
ADDITION: One or more nucleotide base pairs inserted into the DNA sequence
EX: Oringinal DNA- THE CAT ATE THE RAT
Mutated DNA- THE CGA TAT ETH ERA T
DELETION: Removal of one or more nucleotide in a DNA sequence
EX: Oringnal DNA- THE CAT ATE THE RAT
Mutated DNA- THE CTA TAT ETH ETA
SUBSTITUTION: Mutation that exchanges one or more bases for another result in a different amino-acid coden reading
EX: Oringnal DNA - THE CAT ATE THE RAT
Mutated DNA- THE CGT ATE THE RAT
*REMEMBER*
Mutagen-Is any agent that results in a mutation
Somatic Effects - Cant pass to child. ONLY the individual. ( think body cells )
Genetic Effects- Can pass to child
Reflection- I learned a little more then what i didnt know; Not all mutations will pass onto the offspring. Throughout my family the only person i know with a mutation would be my papaw, he is blind in his left eye. And my left eye is my bad eye; so my papaw has a mutation and i believe i do or will someday.

There was a lot of useful information. It really helped me because I didn't understand this topic well before. The video quiz was also very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you had everything well structured meaning it was easy to read and just easy to follow along. I can also relate to your reflection because at first I really didn't know that a mutation couldn't be passed down to the offspring. You did an outstanding job with your facts but for mutagen an example of a mutagen or an example of a somatic effect would of helped better understand.
ReplyDeleteThis was very well rounded and organized. You could improve by using bullet points. Your reflection was very informative and shows you know the topic.
