Genetics: Recessive Traits

Recessive traits are traits that can be carried without the phenotype being shown.
Examples:
- Blue eyes are a recessive trait, so if someone carries both the Brown and blue eye traits their eye color will be brown.
- If two parents have brown eyes but carry the blue eye trait, they can have a child with blue eyes. However, if both parents have blue eyes their offspring can only have blue eyes. This is because neither parent has the brown eye trait.

Comments

  1. Good Breif, genreal idea of what it is.
I have blue eyes, and both my parents do as well so i was for sure going to have them but i find it very cool that if two people have brown eyes they still can genetically have a blue eyed baby, but its a slim chance.

  2. I like that it was quick and straight to the point, also had some good examples. I just think you could've added some more because you didn't have a visual, or a reflection. ~Janara

  4. I was more informed on what the recessive trait did because you gave good examples. My eye color changes and I don't know why because my parents don't change. I think you could've added more detail on the reflection.
