Lab Safety - Kevin Diaz

Lab Safet

Lab Safety is a unit that teaches you about the tools and equipments you will use through out the year, also how to properly handle them to keep yourself safe and the people around you too. It is also a unit that teaches you how take care of your lab material and equipment to ensure that the lab's down the road are a fun, safe learning experience for you as a student.

 Information
- Goggles protect the eyes from flying objects or chemical splashes.
- Hot plate is used to heat objects.
- A test tube rack is used to hold test tubes filled with some substance waiting to be examined or discarded.
- Tongs are used to hold hot substances, but not glassware.
- Lab apron protects the scientists and the scientist's clothes from chemicals.

Summary:
I basically learned all about the tools I was going to see through out the semester and I didn’t think about it a lot until I was hands on with these equipments. I was surprised on how some of the stuff was handle or how safe they can actually keep you because someone the labs you do, you use really hot liquids but if you know how to use the tools, you don’t have to worry about it. I really liked this objective because it was more like a learning process, it was something that not only I can use in biology but in everyday activities like the goggles, it’s common sense that they can keep your eye safe like when you cut the grass, you don’t have to worry about a rock hitting your eye.

  4. I love the video, and how your information is listed instead of in paragraph form; over all, its very organized and neat! As far as the reflection goes, I never really thought about the equipment until I had to start using them too. Knowing how to handle what you're given in a lab is very important.

  5. The video is awesome! The way you placed your facts are awesome. I would've listed them instead of paragraph form but it still was great. You also could've listed important safety tips about lab safety.
