What is a mutation? A mutation is any change in the DNA sequence. There are three types of mutations: * addition: One or more nucleotide base pairs are inserted into a DNA sequence (also called frameshift mutation) *deletion: The removal of one or more nucleotides in a DNA sequence (also called frameshift mutation) *substitution: A mutation that exchanges one or more bases for another (also called point mutation) How do they occur & why? Mutations for randomly, but different mutations occur different ways. Most of the time a mutation comes from radiation (so like the sun, X-rays, tanning salons, etc). Some mutations can be genetic though, like autism. Autism is caused when theres an extra chromosome. Another common mutation would be cancer. Cancer occurs when cells uncontrollably grow, and don't die. Can it be prevented? Unfortunately, mutations are random. The best way to prevent them is to protect yoursel...

ReplyDeleteI really understood photosynthesis from how you explained it. The link is also very helpful and I would try elaborating more on how photosynthesis works. How often does Photosynthesis take place? Are there traits that can hinder photosynthesis in a plant? Also, maybe try adding a bit more to your reflection. Give the surprises of what you learned and how it applies to us.
ReplyDeleteI feel like you could do better on your reflection bye giving more info, but i do like the the color, and you could have added info about the chloroplast
ReplyDeleteThis is good but I feel as if you could've added a little more information and pictures. your reflection was decent but not enough. The website give you more then enough information and I feel like you could've added how if work and what it does and also gave more information on the blog .
ReplyDeleteYou have a good explanation of photosynthesis.
ReplyDeleteWhat is ur reflection? All I see is a sentence about gathered chloroplast.
The plant becomes green because of the chlorophyll in the cells.
Nice on explaining photosynthesis. Your reflection could be longer but it does add one thing of information. You should add a picture for us to see it. Don't forget photosynthesis is directed towards plants.
